Do you remember the slogan ‘once you pop, you can’t stop’ ? Or did I just totally age myself there
Potato chips used to be my kryptonite–in fact it was Cheetohs to be exact.
Like I would legit NOT buy them because I would sit and eat the whole dang bag in one (maybe 2) sittings.
I would say things like “I can’t be trusted around chips”, and would just not buy them.
On the one hand it worked in some ways because I wouldn’t eat them if they weren’t in the house, on the other hand, the food had so much control over me.
That’s not how it’s supposed to be.
Can I tell you something?
You can learn how to trust yourself around food…you know like sweets, carbs, and all the other ‘forbidden’ foods that feel slightly dangerous for you.
I know, I know…
That pretty much undermines everything you’ve been told and likely even goes against some of your own personal experiences.
The first step…
Remove the restriction.
Did you just panic a little? I did.
As counterintuitive as that seems, you’re not exercising self control by using willpower.
You’re giving your power to that food.
Take it back. Remove the restriction.
Give yourself permission to eat it.
And I can promise you eventually it won’t be so tempting.
Think about it, the Apple didn’t looks so good to Eve until the serpent pointed out it was forbidden and ‘off-limits’.. #jussayin
