For many of us, racism seems like a thing of the past, like something that ‘used’ to happen. In this week’s show I sit down to talk with a fitness influencer on her experiences with racism and how she is dismantling modern day racism in the health and beauty industry starting in her own home.
There is a common attitude that if it doesn’t happen to me, it’s just not happening–sadly, this was exactly my same mindset until recently. That’s simply not true. With the killing of George Floyd earlier this year we as a nation have seen just how much racism still exists in The Land of The Free.
Mari also opens up about how she is raising the next generation of fierce young girls to love their bodies and their skin no matter the shade or size.

Last year at a sorority I spoke at, I asked the question who here has at least ONE thing they want to change about their bodies they don’t like. Every single hand went up. 100 % of the women in that room struggled to be content in their bodies as is.
This is a massive problem. It’s a silent epidemic that is costing us 100s of thousands of dollars and even more time. The diet industry is a multibillion dollar industry that makes its money on our insecurities and our fears.

Today, I’m giving you permission to ditch the diet and dieter’s mindset so that you can create true faith fueled food freedom. BONUS: I am also giving you 3 non dieting mindset shifts to make so you can break up the scale forever.
Often we equate an unhealthy lifestyle to bad habits..they are automatic and feel super easy. We don’t have to think about it at all..So why wasn’t don’t we appl this same mindset approach to living a healthy lifestyle?
On the surface, it seems like with living a healthy lifestyle it’s all about discipline, following rules, restriction/ deprivation and diet minded thoughts..
Truthfully, it all comes back to the heart behind the actions, and less about the actions themselves. For example–you could eat the same exact thing with 2 different mindsets, and your outcome will be different.
Over the past couple of years, I have developed some different behaviors and habits around food + exercise…and spoiler alert, they are the same strategies I teach my clients!
However, I truly believe the biggest transformation has come through the mindset.
You can go from stressed out around food to food freedom which aligns with your bigger goals and dreams. And I imagine those dreams don’t include obsessing over food or what you look like.

Hey, mama! I sat down with a friend of mine a while back, and we chatted about our experience with meal plans and former diets.
The bottom line?
Meal plans don’t work long term, and today we are diving into why that is.
Sure, you may get results for a few weeks, but for the vast majority of women, meal plans are simply another diet masked as a healthy lifestyle.
In this week’s episode, we talk about how you can swap out your meal plan for a more sustainable and relaxed way of eating. So that you can live more life, stress and obsess over food and your weight less.
If you’re brand new to the concept of Intuitive eating, and you want to learn more about how you can incorporate mindfulness into your food habits, I want to invite you to check out the brand new ebook I’ve created. Last week we looked at reasons why the ‘more is better’ approach may not be the best approach to take when it comes to reaching your fitness goals…especially as an entrepreneur with a family to raise as well as you probably don’t have a ton of extra time to spare meticulously tracking your food or logging long workouts.
This week we dive into how you can find your own sweet spot when it comes to exercise and nutrition.
You do not have to go to extremes to reach your fitness goals. In fact, it could be that mindset that is keeping you stuck.
Finding your sweet spot will help you….
Get a better handle on your hunger and appetite, which will help you more easily make nutrition choices that align with your goals.
Recover appropriately between training sessions.
Achieve your goals without compromising your physical and mental health.
Expose your body to less exercise-induced stress.
Reduce your risk of injury.
Improve consistency, therefore also improving sustainability.
Free up more of your precious time and mental energy.
If you’re an entrepreneurial minded mom, and don’t have a ton of extra time to dedicate to longer, more intense workout programs or complicated nutrition plans that require you to cut out foods or keep track, then tune into this week’s episode. How to know if you actually need to exercise more?
Often times when we aren’t getting the results from our workouts or our nutrition we think we just need to try a bit harder and workout a little more.
But is the ‘more is better’ approach actually better? In this 2 part series I am helping you navigate the world of fitness to help you create a workout program that supports your goals and your lifestyle.
As always, my goal is to empower you to make the impact in your life you were created to make. And I know that in order to run your race well and finish strong, we have to be fit spiritually, mentally, and physically.
With that said…being ‘fit’ looks a variety of ways. In fact, it’s not even a look, but a feeling. Sure, there are some underlying behaviors that will likely contribute to feeling those things, there is no cookie cutter formula.
You get to set your goals. You’re in charge, and remember you ultimately know best what you need and how to get there.
If you’ve ever felt stuck, burned out, or struggled to reach their fitness goals, even if you were kicking your own butt day in and day out.
Believe that pushing yourself to the limit with crazy workouts and restricted eating is what you have to do to see results you want then this is a series you don’t want to miss.
